Computer science goes deeper into programming, algorithms, and systems. BBIT mixes business courses with lighter IT modules. If you want to be a software developer, CS is stronger. If you want IT management or business analysis, BBIT gives you a broader base. Neither locks you out of tech jobs if you build skills on the side.

What each degree actually covers

Computer science focuses on how software works at a fundamental level. You study data structures, algorithms, operating systems, computer architecture, and programming in languages like C, Java, or Python. The maths load is heavier: discrete maths, linear algebra, calculus. Most programmes include a software engineering unit and a final-year project.

BBIT (Bachelor of Business Information Technology) splits time between business and IT. The programming is lighter and the maths is minimal.
