Hesabu: investor-ready financial projections for African founders

A product we built and run ourselves. It turns a founder’s assumptions into projections, scenarios and unit economics without spreadsheet formulas.

The problem

A founder preparing for an investor meeting often opens a blank spreadsheet and builds the model from memory. Local currencies, M-Pesa payment mix, card rates and VAT rarely sit in the templates found online.

Hesabu was built so a founder can put in assumptions and get a model that reflects how African SaaS businesses really collect money.

What we built

These are the features the public Hesabu site states:

  • A SaaS financial model that connects revenue, COGS, opex, headcount and cash flow.
  • Scenario analysis comparing base, bull and bear cases side by side.
  • Unit economics: LTV, CAC, LTV to CAC ratio, payback period and gross margin.
  • Support for KES, NGN, ZAR and other currencies, plus M-Pesa payment mix, local card rates and VAT.
  • Projections from 12 to 60 months, shown as P&L statements, cash flow statements and KPI dashboards.
  • A guided wizard covering traffic, funnel, pricing, costs and headcount, where you can skip what you do not know yet.

The stack

Hesabu is a product in the fintech space, built by our studio using the same habits we bring to client work: logic map first, then a working v1, then weekly demos. We have not published a stack list for Hesabu, so we will not guess one here.

What it looks like today

Hesabu is live at hesabu.mctaba.com. At the time of writing, the site says it is free while in beta.
