Maoni: guest feedback on WhatsApp, right after the bill is paid
A product we built and run ourselves for restaurants, hotels and service businesses. The payment triggers the question, so feedback arrives while the meal is fresh.
The problem
Picture a restaurant with a paper comment card on the table. Most guests leave without touching it. By the time anyone asks how the meal was, the moment has passed.
The customer is already holding a phone to pay. So the question can follow the payment, in the app they use all day.
What we built
These are the features the public Maoni site states:
- Payments by M-Pesa, Airtel Money and MTN mobile money through Paystack, with STK push, card and bank transfer.
- Payment links and QR codes for tables, counters or delivery.
- An automated WhatsApp message minutes after payment, asking about the experience and collecting ratings and comments.
- A dashboard showing ratings and comments in real time, with trends, NPS scores, sentiment analysis and revenue tracking.
- Payments go straight to the business’s bank, and Maoni never holds the money.
The stack
Maoni runs on the WhatsApp Cloud API and Paystack, with BullMQ queues handling the sending.
What it looks like today
Maoni is live at maoni.mctaba.com. The site lists a free plan and paid plans, so check the page for current terms.
Learn to build this
The same stack is taught in Meta APIs Integration for Developers, and the payment side in Payment Integration for Developers. If you want a flow like this built for your business, see WhatsApp automation.
